Light VAT Registration in the Czech Republic
If you have a Czech trade license and have started invoicing EU-registered businesses outside of the Czech Republic, you are required to register as an Identifikovaná osoba.
We take care of the full process under power of attorney — no need for you to visit any office.
Do You Need to Register as an Identifikovaná Osoba?
If you have a Czech trade license (živnostenský list) and have started invoicing businesses registered for VAT in another EU country, then you are legally required to register as an Identifikovaná osoba (Light VAT Payer) with the Czech Tax Authority.
This registration ensures you’re compliant with EU VAT rules under the reverse charge mechanism and avoids penalties from the Czech tax office.
This is mandatory – even if your turnover is below the standard VAT threshold in the Czech Republic.

What Is an Identifikovaná Osoba?
An Light VAT registration is a special VAT status for Czech-based individuals or companies who:
- Are not full VAT payers
- Provide services to EU VAT-registered businesses
You need to register for Czech Light VAT within 15 days of sending your first invoice to an EU VAT-registered client.
When dealing with EU VAT-registered businesses, you don’t add VAT to your invoices—it’s always 0%. You also don’t pay any VAT in the Czech Republic. Still, even though no VAT is charged, you’re legally required to register for Light VAT and file monthly Light VAT reports for the months when you issued invoice(s) to EU registered business.
